iCloud Drive ​

iCloud Drive Setup ​

System Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > iCloud Drive

Enable Desktop & Documents Folders if you want these synced to iCloud (and accessible from iCloud.com, iPhone, iPad).

Files On-Demand (Optimize Mac Storage) ​

System Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > iCloud Drive > Optimize Mac Storage

When enabled, older files become online-only and download on demand: same concept as OneDrive.

Accessing iCloud Drive ​

  • Finder sidebar: iCloud Drive appears under your name
  • Terminal: cd ~/Library/Mobile\ Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs/
  • iCloud.com: access from any browser (including on Windows)
