The boring page nobody reads until something goes wrong. No legalese. Just straight answers about how the site works, what it collects (nothing), and what happens when you talk to the chatbot.

I don't know how many people visit this site, which articles are popular, or where you came from. That's fine — traffic numbers don't change the content.

What doesn't change: recommendations. Every app, accessory, and service mentioned on this site is here because I use it or genuinely believe it's the best option. Nobody pays to be included. No content is sponsored. Affiliate links sit on top of recommendations that already exist — they don't create new ones.
Ask Alex — The Chatbot
Ask Alex is a conversational assistant built into the site. You type a question, it answers based on the blog's content and links you to the relevant article.
What happens when you send a question:
- Your question goes to a backend API hosted on Azure (Microsoft's cloud)
- The API sends it alongside the blog's article index to Azure OpenAI (a language model)
- The model generates a response grounded in the blog's content
- The response comes back to your browser
That's the full pipeline. Nothing is stored, logged, or reused.
What is NOT collected:
- Questions are not saved to any database
- No conversation history is stored server-side
- Questions are not used to train AI models
- No user account, login, or profile exists
Azure OpenAI data handling:
Under Microsoft's data processing terms, prompts and completions sent to Azure OpenAI are not used to train or improve Microsoft's models, are not available to other customers, and are not used to improve the Azure OpenAI Service.
What the chatbot knows:
The content of this blog. Nothing else. It doesn't browse the internet, doesn't know your name, and can't access your files. Ask it about pizza and it'll suggest you go read an article about Finder instead.
What the chatbot doesn't do:
- Provide general tech support — it's not a help desk
- Give medical, legal, or financial advice — it's a Mac blog
- Remember previous conversations — each session starts fresh
- Guarantee accuracy — it's an AI, not an oracle
If an answer seems off, check the linked article. The articles are the source of truth.
Content Accuracy
Articles are kept as accurate and current as possible. macOS changes with every major release — settings move, features get renamed, keyboard shortcuts get reassigned for no discernible reason.
If something is outdated, that's a content bug. Articles reflect the macOS version current when they were written. Updates happen, but there may be a lag.
Nothing here is professional advice. If you're making critical business decisions based on a blog post about Finder, please also consult someone who gets paid for that.
AI-Assisted Content
Some articles were written with AI assistance. Research, testing, opinions, and mistakes are mine. AI helped with drafting, editing, and structure. Every article is reviewed and tested before publishing.
No article goes live without a real person verifying the content works and the commands are correct.
